Quantum Healing: Basic principles for transforming your health

It has been almost 25 years ago when I first entered medical school fresh out of high school in South Africa. One of the first things that struck me and frankly almost overwhelmed me was the incredible amount of knowledge that I was expected to accumulate through my six years of medical school training and my 5 years of subsequent formal post graduate education. We learned so much about the intricacies of all kinds of diseases, how to diagnose by taking a good history, physical exam and how to use all the intricate technologies of the day. We also learned about hundreds or thousands of potential treatments for these health challenges. We learned that we could do amazing things in the treatments of acute illnesses and wondrous things in terms of saving lives in those that had been injured or were suffering from acute life threatening conditions.

However what also struck me was how incredibly ineffective we were in reversing or preventing chronic health problems. We were all trained to believe that the vast majority of chronic illnesses were genetically programmed to happen and that the best we could do was to minimize complications and slow down progression. Something in me told me that these views were not necessarily true and I started from early on in my career on a quest to learn more about illness from a more holistic perspective. That quest brought me to America to learn from brave physicians that had the guts to suspend the overriding beliefs of the profession they had entered into and been educated in and to learn to think for themselves and open their minds to other possibilities. I have learned so much in past 13 years since I finished my post graduate training and also had to unlearn a tremendous amount of the limiting beliefs that I learned in medical school and beyond. I have learned that there are very few if any chronic illnesses that are not wholly or at least partially reversible and very few if any acute illnesses that are not fully preventable.

What has fascinated me even more as a board certified physician in Holistic Medicine has been the study of what I call Quantum Healing. It has always fascinated me to see how the vast majority in the conventional medical community discount those individuals that have unusual or extraordinary healings or they even question the original diagnosis made if the patient gets better against all odds. I have rarely if ever seen any research done on those types of patients in any illness. We do billions of dollars of research on those that are sick but almost none on those that break the mold and get better against the odds. The vast majority of my experience in this area of quantum healing therefore comes from the thousands of patients that I have had the privilege to work with, the experience of other physicians in integrative, holistic or natural medicine and some of the hundreds of books written by holistic minded physicians and patients that have gone through such spontaneous remissions. One such book is Bernie Siegal's book, "Love, Medicine and Miracles" which is about cancer survivors who experienced spontaneous remissions against all odds.

Here follows a brief summary of the key characteristics that those people have in common who beat the odds and experience remissions in their various forms of chronic illnesses.

1) They have an overwhelming desire to get better.
2) They have an unflinching belief that they can get better in spite of the beliefs of others around them.
3) They are able to remain focused on what they want to achieve in spite of the present symptoms and signs that they might be experiencing as part of their illness.
4) They are able to generate mostly positive emotion that, paired with the strong desire for healing, helps them to find and focus on resources that will aid them in their quest for healing.
5) They are able to align their body, mind and spirit toward the common purpose of healing.
6) They are motivated by spiritual goals and not just survival goals. These spiritual goals include the desire and commitment to learn through their adversity and the desire to contribute toward the healing of others through their learning.
7) They are able to let go of the past and are able to stop trying to predict the future or be afraid of the future. In other words they have a very strong commitment to live in the here and now, the only place where all things are possible and the only place that we are able to wield any creative power.
8) They refuse to be a victim of their situation and are willing to take responsibility for their role in bringing about their health challenge through the choices they have made, the words that they speak and their thoughts and beliefs.
9) They are willing to align their thoughts, words and actions with their desire for healing.
10) They are willing to accept whatever outcome manifests even if it is not totally congruent with their original vision of a specific outcome.
11) They accept that they were created in God's image and have the inherent potential to be whole and complete.
12) They recognize that there is a higher force at play that ultimately directs all of creation and may manifest healing at a different level and in a different way than we might anticipate through our limited perspective.
13) Are willing to look at their health as a worthy investment and are willing to apply resources and to take the time to work towards there goals.

So in other words when you open your mind, connect with the healing power of spirit and allow spirit to flow through and to connect unimpeded with the body, your chances of creating what you want are greatly enhanced.
