Natural Pest Remedies
Ants:
Ants will not cross the line of certain things such as baby powder, cayenne pepper, citrus oils soaked into a piece of yarn or string and coffee grounds.
Window cleaner will kill all ants. Keep away from small children and animals.
Instant grits or instant rice will be taken back to the queen and expand when eaten bursting her belly! Keep away from your beloved animals!
Boil orange and lemon peels and let it sit and cool for about 12 hours and pour it around any plants that ants are bothering in your garden or flower bed.
Pour honey or watermelon far away from your house at the very back fence so ants will go to that and stay away from your home or playing area.
Wipe the doors and windowsills with clove oil and ants won’t go there anymore.
CockRoaches:
Bay leaves are a great deterrent. Place them wherever cockroaches frequent.
Use catnip. It has a chemical called neptactone which is deadly to them but safe for people and pets. Put it is a netted sash all around problem areas and you wont have those pests.
Take 1 quart of water and add 2TBSP
Spiders:
Take old pantyhose or netting and put in some cedar chips and tie it up and hang it where you have a spider problem.
Spiders hate the herb pennyroyal so spray or sprinkle it in problem areas.
Take one of the following oils and put 1 drop in 1 quart of water with 4 TBSP liquid dish soap and spray spiders and it will kill them. Oils you can use could be lavender, cinnamon, citronella or tea tree oil.
Mosquitoes:
Get rid of standing water- even small amounts!
Put fresh basil in a netting bag and hang it around the house or porch or pool to keep away mosquitoes. All flying insects hate the smell of Basil.
Grow bamboo plants because they will attract dragonflies which eat mosquitoes and their larvae.
Grow Citronella plants and place around your porch.
If you get a bunch in your house- open a bottle of Citronella or pennyroyal and leave them a way to escape.
Neem oil is a natural vegetable oil and is very good at repelling mosquitoes.
Eats lots of garlic- may be great for the heart and keeps mosquitoes away!
Moths:
Herbs that repel moths: Pennyroyal, sage, mint, lavender. Place in your closet or pantry.
Hang up a sachet of peppercorns, dried mint, rosemary, bay leaves, lavender, whole cloves and cedar chips.
Flea’s:
Soak your dog’s collar in a bait of rosemary or oregano or 50/50 of both (not too strong) and it will repel flea’s.
Put a drop of pine and a drop of rose oil in your dogs bath water. Don’t get in eyes, ears or nose.
Use a cup or two of cool peppermint tea added to your pets bathwater to rid fleas.
Mix up 2 oz pennyroyal, 1 oz chamomile and 1 oz catnip and place it inside a sachet inside of your cats pillow and kitty won’t get fleas.
